The moment I've been waiting for: Making a wreath for the front door.
Since the door was replaced I've been dreaming of seeing a Christmas wreath hanging from the door knocker.
This year I am absolutely loving our decorations. It's so traditional, and dare I say it, restrained? Instead of filling the front garden with lights, there are fewer and I think it looks so much nicer. Same with inside the house. I haven't put lights along the stair bannisters because I can't plug them in where I used to in the kitchen. There aren't as many fairy lights draped around various rooms in the house either. But they aren't missed. It still looks festive and cosy. No glitter, no tinsel, no baubles on trees, just vases of red roses, red velvet, gingerbread, clementines, nuts, and foliage from the garden.
The wreath will be reworked (and already has been) between now and Christmas as the roses and berries fade, but I really love how it turned out this year. I wanted it to look traditional and Dickensian on the wooden door.
