while I may have given in and bought a new cup and plate recently, I'm still being sensible when it comes to sparkly things that catch my eye. Taking a photo really is enough for me, so I'll continue to do that. Especially as Bill and I are going to be visiting The Range later on today. I know they'll have Christmas set up, and I plan to take a look around, but I don't plan on buying anything new. I need picture frames and card, perhaps a candle or two. If I see anything else that I'd like and have room for, then I may treat myself, but I'm not going shopping intending to buy just any old thing. I am tougher with myself these days and I have to be.
Now I've used these photos on the blog I can delete them from my phone. Then I'll completely forget about them until the next time I look back on this post. And that's the lesson I am teaching myself, that I can see something in the moment and think 'ooh, pretty', but that doesn't mean I should buy it.
Walking away from it with only a picture saves money and will not clutter up the house or garage. It's not always easy, I can't lie, sometimes I see something and would love to bring it home, but that's the easiest way of undoing all the hard work we've done this year and I have no intention of doing that.

I'm greatly admiring your newly found discipline Sadie :) We need to go to The Range for a mirror but think it will a while before we get there. Still doing DIY and have now started knocking a wall down - we're gluttons for punishment lol.
ReplyDeleteThanks Suzanne, it's not always easy but we are determined not to mess up the house or garage again. I've noticed I've squirrelled a few bits away in the garage lately, so I'm going t go through it and get Bill to book another place at the dump so I can stay on top of things.
DeleteCrikey. Knocking down a wall! I don't envy you doing that, but sometimes it has to be done. Good luck with it! x
