great salad
It's been a busy little week or so. The TV aerial man came back on Wednesday and sorted out he signal problem. The grouting was done around the oven, which means the kitchen is finally finished. I put up a reel on the Gram, but I'll try and do a 'short' and put on you tube at some point so I can share it here. It's just so lovely to be able to use a kitchen again, the fact that it's beautiful is a bonus.
At the weekend Bill and I zipped into town to get a few bits for Violet, who is currently away at what I call 'happy camp' but can't really tell you any more than that. It's a thing for young people, this week is staying away for the week to do various outdoor activities then when they are back next week they work on community projects. Violet wanted to go and has been looking forward to it for months. She went yesterday and will be back on Friday.
The house is quiet without her, but it stays so tidy!
Been out in the garage this afternoon trying to organise and get rid of stuff. I see that I am have been a major problem with all of my seasonal 'must haves'. But I also know it's taken twenty years to build this rubbish up, so it'll take time to go through and get rid of it too. I'm still trying to not buy books whenever I want to, but I decided I wanted this one about salads. Does anyone really need salad recipes? Probably not, but we have eaten so much salad this summer that any new ideas or suggestions are welcome. I am not a fan of the cover, but the salads inside look so good. The veggies in the photo are from the garden, things are starting to ripen quickly, it is still very hot and muggy. I'm craving a good, rainy day and night. The nights are unbearable.

I've just seen your kitchen on Instagram; it's an absolute triumph! I wish I could send you some of our rain. It has been torrential again today. My husband got wet on his way to work at 7.45am, and the shoes he wore to cycle were still wet when he arrived home at 7.10pm!
ReplyDeleteThat's kind Scarlet, thank you. How I wish you could send us your rain, we need it. The grass is bleached and crispy, which is normal for this time of year but it seems even crispier than usual. And the air is too muggy.
DeleteSounds like you had a proper dousing, your poor husband! But yes, if you could just tell it to head this way I would be grateful. x
