changeover

Start of the week, so decided it was a good time to open this blog. Same me, same stuff, just a different name and shorter posts. Part of the problem with blogging is when you get into the habit of writing long posts with lots of photos. It doesn't have to be like that, and it's something I've been wanting to change.

Very hot today already. According to my phone we are at 30°c already and it's not even 11 a.m as I write this. I had a quick hoover and did the ironing early, so it doesn't add extra heat to the house.
Violet and I are trying to stay cool, Bill is going to work for this morning only, which seems like a sensible compromise to me.

The decorator was meant to be here today, but he isn't. I called it on Friday that he wouldn't arrive, I picked up some vibes on Thursday and had that feeling. Can't say I'm too bothered. As long as it gets finished by the end of the week I'm quite relaxed if he's avoiding the hottest days. The tiling around the oven is due to be done on Saturday. Once these bits have been taken care of then I will show the kitchen. Not in its entirety, details and suggestions. One thing I have decided on and am determined to do from now on is to be less open. I don't mind sharing bits and pieces, but you never know exactly who's reading your blog so it's best to be quite guarded. Our home is private, so while I can show some things I don't want to share everything. It's a little different on the gram because it's locked down and I don't accept all requests. I also spend time going through followers/following and deleting accounts for various reasons. I'm not in it to get as many followers as I can, the numbers don't interest me. I'm more concerned with who follows me and why, I have some control with Instagram and Twitter, with a blog you don't. Something to remember when sharing details of home and family.

  1. At last, I've found a way of being able to comment! By swapping to Chrome on my phone, Google recognises that I am signed in. I understand what you mean by you don't know who's reading a blog, as I've had some very odd people in the past. You must be very much looking forward to the kitchen being completely finished. I had people here for around 3 weeks altogether when mine was done, and by the end my nerves were shredded, even though they were all nice people. I just like being alone at home!

    1. I think a lot of people have had trouble with google/blogger lately. I took a break from blogging for a few months earlier this year, came back and blogger had made loads of changes. Which is fine, but takes a while to get use to and they always make things just a little bit trickier than before.

Yeah, having an open blog leaves you vulnerable to all sorts.I'm sorry you've had to deal with oddness before. Same. I tend to ignore, but you there's always the knowledge that it's open and anyone can read it.

I feel the same. I love it when work is done, but having people around day in, day out is hard. It can feel really awkward. But, the bulk is done, and by the end of Saturday it should be completely finished and back to being totally ours. That said we have some 'handing over' ceremony to endure next week, which makes me laugh. Nice idea, but to be totally honest I can do without it. x
