Yesterday Bill and I went to get a little food shopping, then popped into John Lewis in the hope of finding a kitchen clock. They had one that we both really liked, but it had a white frame and we wanted black.
Back home I went online, found the exact same clock on Amazon with a black frame and ordered it. It arrived this morning and is perfect.
When the chap knocked on the door I offered him a cold water to take with him as I always do when it's hot, which he happily accepted. He said it was the first time anyone had ever offered him a cold drink on a hot day. That makes me sad. It doesn't take much to show a little kindness,but it seems in this world people are quick to be mean or bitter, doing a small good deed is beyond them.
Bill has gone to pick Violet up, she's had a few days in Walberswick. He left early, so I got a chicken in the oven and prepped salad and hard boiled eggs to have later on. So glad I did. Now I can enjoy some time in the shade in the garden, and when it's time to eat everything is ready.
