flowers in bloom

The first rose of the year has been picked and brought inside the house. Even though yellow flowers aren't my favourite, I love seeing the yellow roses each year. They always smell as a rose should.

The lilac has been and gone, the storms cutting short their beauty, and the Wisteria is simply stunning. The sweet scent fills the air in the front garden, it is such a treat to see the pale purple cascades of flowers each spring.

Earlier this year I decided I wanted to get back into making vlogs. Mainly for myself. I spent an evening going through all the vlogs I'd made private and loved reliving days gone by, even though they weren't that long ago. You Tube is the perfect place to store time capsules of your life, even if you choose to keep them private and never share them, it's so lovely to have visual slices of your life stashed away. While she was still quite well, Bill videoed himself and his mum planting up sweetpeas in the kitchen of her home. There are about 20 short videos from that day and I have them all tucked away on You Tube. They'll never be published but it's rather lovely that not only can Bill see his mum looking happy and healthy, but Violet can too. And that's why I wanted to make vlogs again. It's just nice to know the videos are there, and I'm able to record things like the Wisteria and hold on to their beauty forever. Plus, the whole editing process is so engrossing. Some days I hate it, other days I love every minute. Last week I managed to record, edit, and upload a vlog all in the same day. Take my word for it, it's a task and how daily vloggers do it continually leaves me in awe. Since then I've managed another two. I know the more I do it the easier it'll become. I just need to make sure I remember to pick up the phone and record. Right now I'm enjoying it, and while my life is very ordrinary and nothing like exciting, I'm enjoying sharing what I choose to share.

All this to say that if you would like to see my vlogs I'm on You Tube and you can find here: @theordinarylifeofsadiec8569
We recently had the coronation of King Charles, which was quite amazing. Rain of course fell that day, but it did not dampen the spirits. The day went off beautifully and the Royals that matter looked wonderful, it was an honour to see history unfold before our eyes.

As I'm still trying hard not to clog up the house with tat, I resisted buying a ton of coronation paraphernalia other than a tin of biscuits, but when I learned that Cornishware were bringing out a mug I wanted it so much. They have realised that bringing out limited editions floods them with orders - quite rightly - but they only offer them for a very short time. So you have to be quick. I set an alarm so I knew when the mugs went on sale and hit the website on the chime of midday when they became available. The website was slow, the website crashed, but I tried and tried. After almost an hour I finally had what I wanted in my basket. I was after the red striped mug, the blue was very nice but I wanted it in red. Could not believe that I managed to get one. It arrived one week later, the day before the Coronation and I could not be happier.
Something worth keeping, it is beautiful.

  1. Lovely to hear from you again. The rose is a particularly nice yellow, I don't like the garish, blousy yellows either. I bought a climbing one last year that doesn't grow too tall, Bathsheba, it's meant to be fragrant but it ain't, so disappointing!

  2. It is lovely to see a post from you, Sadie. I've been behind with my blog reading (and posting) lately, but it makes me so happy when an old favourite pops up on my feed. I hope you and your family are keeping well.
I will try and take a look at your vlogs over on YouTube later. It isn't somewhere I visit regularly, but your idea of uploading special memories is inspired, and will be so nice to look back on in years to come.
I'm glad you enjoyed The Coronation - I expected you would :) And I just love your commemorative mug. You can't go wrong with Cornishware. Xx
