start of week 2
This is how the bathroom looks now. It has changed so much already, but the real transformation is about to begin.
By the end of the week there should be a very obvious difference with walls, ceiling and floor. Other than the total removal of the sanitary ware, the biggest change has been removing the wall beside the window. It was a faux wall, only there to box in pipework. It didn't need to be as big as it was, just a bit of lazy building work I suspect. Getting rid of it and having only the smallest amount of boxing in has given almost a foot of extra floor space, in small rooms every extra bit helps.
The carpenter was due to be here today but has called to cancel as he's not well. Can't lie, I'm quite happy to have an unexpected quiet day.
Will post a pic at the end of the week. Next week the first couple of days are for the decorating, then the bathroom pieces will be installed. Very much looking forward to seeing things take shape. The pile of junk from the bathroom will be removed this week too, probably once the carpenter has finished.
As piles of junk go though, this is nothing. The kitchen had the biggest pile of rubbish, hence the need for the skip, but we had it piled in the garden for a few days until the skip arrived. Project 2 resulted in a massive mountain of rubbish in the garden, it was shifted into the back of a lorry by hand and I didn't envy them the job one jot. It was hard work. By comparison this is so little, and barely noticable. Still be nice when it's gone though, shows things are moving on nicely. Or they will, once the carpenter is here. He hasn't a massive amount to do, I'm confident it can be all done in one day, though they allowed for two.
