  On Friday one pink rose bloomed in the front garden. It's probably the last one this year.

Needed a bit of a timeline cleanse after the previous post!

Yesterday I mentioned that I'd taken down the bed in Violet's "original" room, so thought I'd explain.

Bascially Violet has half the upstairs. She has her original bedroom, but no longer slept in it. She sleeps in the blue room which has a much bigger bed and is the room next door, both rooms are joined via a 'jack & jill' shower room, the one I always call Bill's shower room. Mainly because it's decorated in a blokey manner, but Violet uses it as her shower room too. We refer to this set up as 'the suite'! Violet's suite of rooms. How lovely, I'd have loved that at her age.

When she started sleeping in the blue room I suggested we got rid of the smaller bed. It was a single four poster bed, so stuck out in the centre of the room and took up quite a bit of floorspace. she didn't want to do that. And that was annoying, the bed was nothing more than storage for piles of cushions and a bucket load of crap. I'd clear all the books and papers and whatnot off the bed, make it look nice, but a day or two later it was full of junk again.

Violet has finally decided that getting rid of the bed is a smart move and will make it the perfect study room for her. Wasting no time, I took down the bed and we will get rid of it at the weekend. At the moment it's a pile of bits behind the garage, the mattess leaning against a wall in the room. But already the room feels so spacious.

The plan is to get a small sofa bed, so Violet has a place to relax and do college work while watching TV or listening to music, and if she has a friend over who wants to stay, then that could easily happen too. Some of the furniture will need replacing, but not too much.

All manner of decorating ideas are being put out into the universe, but I'm hoping we can get away with nothing more than a splash of paint and the furniture changes needed.

What I wanted to do was show a photo of the bedless room, but I can't. Violet made a start on going through all the junk she had stored under the bed in boxes, it is strewn across the floor. I'm keeping the door shut and ignoring it as I know that getting rid of stuff means making a ton of mess while you sort it out. Hope she gets on with it later on today though!
