FC in snow
Finding a moment to blog yesterday was impossible. Violet had her friend round and I do like to make sure he leaves full to the brim with food. After a McDonalds lunch for them, I made baked potatoes with chilli con carne and soured cream, and a side of hot dogs with gorgeously caramelised onions. Good autumnal food.
That kept me busy in the afternoon, meanwhile Bill was in the front garden working on the path. A little rearranging has to be done.
In the morning Bill and I went to a couple of shops for some vitals. Well, vital-ish things. I wanted to see if the B&M had a set of 400 lights to use on the porch. They did, so I snapped them up. While I was there I grabbed a few festive bits and pieces, some napkins, sweeties, and a set of measuring spoons in the fashion of severed Father Christmas heads. Too cute to resist. I didn't need them but I liked them so much that I felt £4 wasn't a bad price. They have them in a 'gonk' version, but I don't understand this gonk thing at all. Who decided they were festive, why are they literally everywhere? The B&M are full of gonk Christmas stuff, from mugs to decorations and I just don't get it. They only had two sets of the Father Christmas spoons and absolutely loads of the gonk ones. That should tell them something surely.
Back home I washed them, then spied my jar of my current salt obsession - sea salt flakes. I like rock salt but find them too big. Flakes are perfect. You get the good salty hit but without feeling you're going to chip a tooth. I thought I could use the teeny measuring spoon as a salt scoop, pushed it in the salt and then realised it looked like Father Christmas stuck in snow. So cute. It's the little things that amuse me!
