different lights

On Wednesday morning the sun shone brilliantly into the Garden Room, throwing rainbows onto the wall and chair. It was so pretty I had to take a photo.

There was no time to blog yesterday, I had lots to do in the real world.
Violet was away on Wednesday, staying with her Aunt in Walberswick. I'm really glad that not only does Violet like to spend time with her Aunt - who is also her Godmother - but my Sister in Law is happy to have her. She stayed overnight and returned late afternoon Thursday. They had a very Enid Blyton time, going to the pier at Southwold, biking, walking the dog, strolling to the pub for something to eat. I love that Violet has these little slices of time away from us, it's good for her and can't lie, good for us too! Well, teenagers can drive you absolutely mad can't they?
Jim Lawrence launced a new product on Wednesday, I sent the gramation to Bill with the words 'we need these', he agreed, so once the porch blokes arrived, off we went to take a look. Basically, wall lights that you plug in. No electrician needed, no chanelling out trenches in your walls, just attach and plug them in. Such an easy idea and yet one that's hard to find. When we wanted an outdoor light for the greenhoouse recently, that's exactly what we wanted. Just something to plug in and was safe for outside. It was not easy to find. There is such a gap in the market for this type of thing.
When we arrived their display team were in the process of putting up the new lights, they are that new. We saw the one we were after, chose the lampshades we liked, the required lightbulbs and was it. Sorted.
After doing the weekly shop, Bill took his damaged van off to be repaired and pick up a temporary van then went off to pick up Violet. Not sure if I mentioned it, but on Friday Bill was working when someone managed to reverse right into the side of his van. Bill was up a ladder cutting a hedge and saw it happen, but there was no chance to stop it. No one was hurt, which is most important, but it is another thing in the long list of stupid or annoying things to happen to us this year, and something we could have done without. But such is life.

Once Violet was home and we'd all been fed the lights were put up. Didn't take long at all and looks superb. The colour of the shade works so well with the wallpaper. My favourite details is the vintage style cord, it adds something to the look. The little wall bracket thingy is include, it holds the wire in place if you choose to do that.
Last night I wanted to have another early night, just to read my book and relax. Usually an early night to read includes taking the laptop and watching You Tube vlogs and stuff as I read in between. Not really fully focused on reading. But last night, possibly due to the good lighting and cosy feeling, I read and didn't even realise I hadn't taken my laptop upstairs until I went to the kitchen to get some water and noticed it on the side. That's really unusual, normally I've always got my computer close by. So if a change in lights encourages me to switch off gadgets and read, then it's definitely money well spent.
