stoked

The latest obsession in this house is with Stokes condiments. Something I used to buy back in the day, but the little Violet decided she only liked Heinz tomato sauce so I could only buy that, and even had to source sachets to take with us when we ate out. Stokes is Suffolk based and many Suffolk pubs have it on the tables. Great for us, but not great for children who have decided they don't like it. So anyway, I didn't buy it for that reason, even though Bill and I liked it.

Then there was the situation where we went to a lunch party with one of the offspring of the family who owned the company, it wasn't enjoyable and I vowed never to buy it again.
Many years have passed since that incident and I decided it was time to put it down to a number of factors and move on.
So we've rediscovered their sauces and condiments and they are a joy. Violet has grown and changed, and she adores their tomato sauce so I've totally switched brands.
Last year I would search for the Sicilian lemon and dill mayo in Waitrose, but they never had it. A sudden realisation that I could buy it online a couple of weeks ago and an order was placed. I'll place another order soon as I really like seeing the cupboard groaning with the products.
Weekly shop this morning, so I'll be buying at least two bottles of the tomato sauce, at the moment we are easily getting through a bottle a week.

September is here, and it's bringing huge anxiety with it. Violet starts college tomorrow with a day of introduction and finding out her timetable, a few weeks in and it'll be fine, but right now I am full of angst.
And Bill starts his medication today. Hoping that goes well, but I can't get rid of the feeling of dread and worry.
Life never likes to go smoothly does it?

  1. Sorry you are having an anxious time and also hope next door's deranged will pipe down
Best wishes to Bill and his medication and Violet settle into the college life easily and smoothly. I expect she will.

    1. Thanks Annabeth. Oh, her next door is best totally ignored. Unless she starts doing stuff to my house, garden, or ever upsets Violet. Then it's time for the Next Step.

  2. I'm smiling reading about the Heinz sauce. My sister came to visit once with her children, before I had Amy and Tom, and she wanted cheese spread but it had to be Kraft, not Dairylea. I couldn't understand why they wouldn't just eat Dairylea and then Tom came along with his taste buds and I completely got it! Funny little creatures aren't they. Hope Bill is OK off his medication. xx

    1. it's funny how they decide these things early on isn't it? I wouldn't have minded but Stokes sauce is so good, I was gutted that she only liked Heinz, so now she's decided she likes Stokes best I've gone crazy buying all their products!

Bill seems ok so far. Taking them for the rest of the year before what comes next. x
