gone
To try to explain just how much of a loss Her Majesty The Queen is to anyone outside the UK would be pretty hard, if not impossible. She wasn't a politician, she was above that. She was The Queen. Our Queen.
Yesterday we went into town and saw many tributes to Her Majesty. Flags at half mast, and all the estate agents windows had the same black and white print outs marking the loss of our Queen.
I've heard lots of comments of how she was 'a constant' in our lives, which people have latched on to and used daily. All I can say is she was just always there, and always 'The Queen'. You felt as if you knew her well just because we'd see her, waving from cars, visiting people, waving from the balcony of Buckingham Palace, making her Christmas speech, and of course, seeing her image daily on stamps and money. We've not known anything else, she is literally part of everyday life.
At times of troubles she has been the voice of sense, calmness and reassurance. When the pandemic hit and we were all feeling fear and wondering what would happen next, she made a speech to say we had to endure and we'd be ok in the end. We would meet again.
It was just what we needed to hear, and knowing she was going through it with us and certain we'd survive made us feel it would be fine in the end.
King Charles has the same energy of empathy and understanding, I know the monarchy is in safe hands. Even more so knowing the Prince and Princess of wales are waiting in the wings. And, by the way, it's so lovely to hear the title of Princess of wales again. It has been missed, and in case anyone thinks it's wrong, nope, it's not. Titles revert back to The Crown and are free to be redistributed at the discretion of the monarch. I can't think of anyone better to be given the title of Princess of Wales than Catherine. She is deserving, gracious, and kind.
Today has been tough. Watching our Queen finally reach her resting place has been so emotional. Seeing her family struggle with grief in such a public way has not been easy to watch. But I am as always so proud of this country. The fantasic display of reverance and respect is always a delight to see. We have struggles, we have issues, but we have total pride and love for our Royal family, no matter what some individuals would try to make you believe. For the world watching, take note. We appreciate the monarchy, and we have respect for them. Those who work hard for us and the country, not those who are only out for themselves, or are seedy and shady. The Real working Royals. The ones that matter. They are the ones we respect, and they are the ones we appreciate.
