My stash of perfume has run low. Deliberately I should add. I had a goodly amount, and used them often, but fragrance doesn't have a long shelf life and will go off if it isn't used. I cherished my bottle of Lilac Path by Aerin Lauder, making it a treat to use. Stupid of me. I realised one day the colour had darkened and the smell wasn't quite right. Instead of smelling of a bouquet of freshly picked lilac it had a harsh, slightly tart floral smell. So I stopped using it. Such a wasteful shame. And shame on me because I know better and should not have let that happen.
Anyway. After that I thought that I'd better make sure I use my fragrance, not in a super speedy manner, just use it and not have this happen again. I've done that, and was getting to the point of draining empty bottles. I took the opportunity to request the miniatures from Penhaligons as a birthday gift and they will last a decent amount of time, so my stash may be low but it's not depleted.
As with everything else, the price of perfume has shot up crazily. But on Friday an email from AllBeauty.com pinged into my inbox with a 20% discount code. Timely indeed. I chose two fragrances, Arpège by Lanvin, which is an old favourite, and So, Oscar de la Renta, which I didn't think I knew, but after spritzing it feel sure I've had it before. It's very light and floral, lovely for a spritz throughout the day (being very light it doesn't linger for long).
With the decent discount I chose the luxury of next day delivery. I would say as a treat, but as Royal Mail keep having strikes it was more to make sure I got it swiftly rather than being forced to wait a week or more.
Perfume stash somewhat restored, and my little old self drizzled in Arpège today. Bliss.
Since I had Covid last December my sense of smell has been hit and miss. Quite often my perfume smells sour and musty to me, but lovely to other people!
