white & gold
Now I know what you're going to say. You're going to say 'hang on, I thought you were the new & improved version of you, and are always bleating on about how you don't want to buy "stuff" and clog up the house again'. And you are right to say so. Absolutely right.
However. I've also said that I am allowed to buy things that I need/like/want, within reason, and nowhere near as much as I would have done before.
When it comes to teacups I am likely to give in if it's something I really like the look of, but I don't rush into it these days.
For a few weeks now I've been looking at this white and gold cup on the H&M website. Last year I bought three floral ones in this style. I still use one of them pretty much every day, and they were the inspiration behind the living room change last winter. So I have no regrets. They are liked, they are used, and most importantly they make a good cup of tea. The saddest thing in the world has to be when you get a pretty cup that you love, but no matter how many times you try it makes tea taste not great. After plenty of thought I decided to place an order for just one cup. And then I spotted a dish and a tiny plate, both in white and gold with a lovely fluted design. Pretty, and useful. Buying just the one cup is in itself is growth, usually I'd order three so we each had one, but there is no need to do that. Same with the dishes. It would have been so easy to buy at least two of each but I didn't need or want that amount.
And in fairness, we do use tiny plates/dishes a lot in this house. I've got 7 or 8 in constant use, they tend to be used to hold sauces/condiments, they are never a pointless buy and for £2.99 I wasn't going to say no. The dish is pretty and perfect for salad, a small pasta lunch, or just for holding fruit. So I'm not in the slightest bit sorry, I'm very pleased with my purchases.
