what a week

It has been quite the week here in England. For obvious reasons. On Friday morning I needed to walk to the supermarket for a few bits. It struck me at how quiet the roads were. It's back to school week, so I expected it to be loud and busy, but it wasn't. When I reached the supermarket it too was eerily silent. Lots of people there, but very quiet, and no background music. I did my shopping, selected self service as I didn't feel like speaking to anyone, and made sure I picked up a copy of The Times.
Our Queen is dead. She was truly loved, which her recent Platinum Jubliee celebrations proved. she always knew what to say, even if she didn't speak often. At the start of the pandemic she made sure to speak to her people, telling us 'we will meet again' with such calmness that you just felt it would be ok. We'd get through it because the Queen had said so. And she was right.
When she died, a little bit of me died with her, because to me, part of who I am and being British is having the Royal family and in particular our Gracious Majesty The Queen. I feel as if I've known her for so long. The Royal family are strong, they support us, they are there for us. And that is the truth. They need us but we need them too. It's something we are lucky to have.
People who lie and try to make money from badmouthing them are learning the hard way that the Royal family are admired and respected for many reasons. Liars trying to profit from them will not succeed and will always expose themselves. We know it, the world sees it, they lose respect not the Royal family. That's all I have to say.

Now we have King Charles III and his Queen consort, they are going to be excellent. We have their backs. We are here for them. The Queen would be so pleased to see just how much love is being shown to the King already. It's amazing to see history happen, and I always love the pomp and ceremony of Royal occasions. It's heartbreaking to know we will watch the funeral of our beloved Queen, but it will be so beautiful at the same time.

The Queen would want for life to go on, the monarchy to go forward. She was very pragmatic.
I am delighted that we have a new Prince and Princess of Wales. The title of Princess of Wales hasn't been used since the death of Diana, and I can't think of a more worthy person to bear that title than Catherine. Have seen a lot of rubbish about there only being 'one Princess of Wales' from idiots who don't understand how things work. Catherine will be the 11th Princess of Wales, and she won't be the last. Titles belong to the Crown not the person, and are given at the discretion of the monarch, but that seems to be beyond the comprehension of people for whom Royal customs aren't in their everyday life.

We can look forward to the coronation of King Charles knowing that it's what the Queen wanted. He will be a fine king. Camilla his fine Queen. And I for one support them one hundred percent.
